First Evening School of European Studies in Amsterdam

Oct 14-Mar 31
The first Evening School of European Studies (ESES) will start in Amsterdam this October, with fortnightly sessions on Thursday evenings, continuing through to late March, 2011. The twelve evening sessions will be supplemented by three Saturday ‘historical trail’ excursions.

The aim of this course is to enable those with jobs or other study:

• to gain an overview of how the Bible’s message shaped Europe’s foundations;

• to explore biblical responses to major influences in Europe today, including secularism, Islam, new spirituality and the EU;

• as well as to investigate our task–as ‘people of hope’–in shaping Europe’s future.

Jeff Fountain and visiting lecturers will provide the course content.

Reading and assignments will be involved. No academic qualifications required.

Dates: Thursday evening lectures: Oct 14, 28, Nov 11, 25  Dec 9, Jan 6, 20, Feb 3, 17, Mar 3, 17, 31

           Saturday historical trails: Oct 30, Utrecht/Naarden; Jan 22, Amsterdam ; Mar 19, Deventer/Zwolle

Costs: €150 for course, including study materials and books.
